The Sacred Path of a PvE'er

Getting into PVE. 'It's too hard, I need achievements to get into raids but I cant get the achievement with getting into a raid' and 'I have no past experience I don't think any guild's will accept me' are two of the most common complaints I hear about PVE. These are just EXCUSES, although they are true to a point, you cannot give up on trying.

In these PVE blogs I will be discussing how to get into PVE content, from scratch all they way up to heroics. The Sacred Path of a PvE'er.

Today I will be discussing the choices of class to play for PVE content. As we should know there are three roles in PVE, Tank, Healer and DPS. I will briefly cover each role below:

Tank

Tanking is a role for maximising health and avoidance. These champions will be directly getting attacked by bosses and mobs 24/7. Your aim is to protect your healers and squishy DPS from direct boss damage.
  • Protection Warrior
  • Blood Death Knight
  • Protection Paladin
  • Guardian Druid
  • Brewmaster Monk

 Healer

A healer is a class that aims to keep everyone alive. By using spells and power they are able to heal tanks as they take massive amounts of damage, as well as DPS from non-direct boss damage. A healer maximises there spirit and intellect to keep healing for long durations.
  • Disc/Holy Priest
  • Restoration Shaman
  • Holy Paladin
  • Restoration Druid
  • Mistweaver Monk

DPS

The damage role is the most common of all three. There are two sub roles to this, Ranged and Melee. Both have the same goal but can be altered by boss mechanics. Ultimately the DPS are the guys who are killing the boss, while you have tanks distracting the boss and healers keeping everyone alive the DPS are eating away at the boss HP.
  • Arms/Fury Warrior
  • Feral/Balance Druid
  • Beast Mastery/Survival/Marksmanship Hunter
  • Arcane/Fire/Frost Mage
  • Affliction/Demonology/Destruction Warlock
  • Frost/Unholy Death Knight
  • Retribution Paladin
  • Shadow Priest
  • Assassination/Combat/Subtlety Rogue
  • Elemental/Enhancement Shaman
  • Windwalker Monk

Every class can do multiple variations of all three roles, some can only do two of the three and some only one. Which one should you play? This is possibly the hardest question that can be asked about PVE. It is highly suggested that you try everything, unless you just love one class, nothing is great and nothing is bad. Looking at my past is a perfect example, I started out as a DPS rogue, I had heaps of fun but eventually just wanted to get a break from DPS meters and moved to Healer. Healing was also fun but after a while I didn't really feel like I had that much of an impact (I was actually topping charts for my guild but personally didn't click with healing) and in 4.3 I clicked with Tanking. I have tanked all through MoP and still going strong.

But its the end of an expansion, is there much point?

Yes! Now is the perfect time to try out all different classes and variations. Once you find your mojo or you can settle on a class then you are able to get experience in raids and use this as a key factor come WoD, the fact that you have past experience always looks good on a resume.

Next week I will be discussing about gearing up for raiding! Be sure to follow me on twitter @DollarbillsWoW and at 100 followers I will be doing a 25k gold giveaway.

Hitting stock on Gold Street!

So you have yourself some professions, and all you need now is to start getting some inventory. First off you want your basics, your mats.

What you will need:

  • TSM
  • Gold (The more you spend the more you make.. to a certain degree)
  • Patience
Profession Mat's
The art of trade chat barking is considered both good and evil. You want to be careful about how much you bark but at the same time you want to make sure everyone who zones into /2. chat gets your message. For this I suggest downloading "Guild Recruitment Helper" and set your settings to your own preferences to auto bark. *BE CAREFUL AS YOU CAN BE REPORTED FOR SPAM IF SENT TO FREQUENTLY*

Now onto the actual mats. So in your crafting table TSM will supply you with a list of mats you require to make the most profitable items available. In order to get these you will need to address your crafting cost's and mat cost's. TSM does this for you:

So when you are hunting for your mats start out lowest and have a second 'reasonable bid' for the mat you are after. I call this the 1-3-2 Method. 1 - Lowest offer, 3 - Sale. If no sale, back one step, 2 - Reasonable offer. For example :

'WTB Golden Lotus pst'
From X - 'How much per stack?'
To X - '29g per / 580g stack' *Step 1
They can either take your bid here or if they reject it - *Step 3
To X - 'How about 31g per?' *Step 2

From this example you can see that you can either got a really good deal or you can get a fairly decent deal that is still way under your mat price. *These mat prices are for my server. Prices will vary from server to server

Trade chat steals
Using the same method above, I often find people selling mounts or Xmog in trade chat that do not really have much of an idea about the actual sale price or just simply will take the best offer they can get.
In the above trade I was able to offer an extremely low price for a highly wanted transmog weapon. The buyer was simply after some quick gold and I was able to flip this for a 7.3k profit within 20mins of each trade.

Thanks for reading and good luck in your future trades and profits. Be sure to follow my twitter @DollarbillsWoW for your chance to win 25,000 gold!

Hitting up Gold Street with... Transmog!

Okay, so you have you gems all set up to make your 'store' sparkle. Now you need some appeal items.

Or in WoW terms, Transmog. What you will need:

  • Any amount of gold
  • Patience
  • TSM (Quickest form for posting)
Going into the transmog market is no 'Fast way to make gold' but it is a good long term investment. Like in business when looking at a company, they have current assets and non-current assets. In WoW your current assets would be things you can sell in a 1 hour to 1 week, these would be things like gems, enchants, glyphs and popular items. Your non-current assets would be things that you will sell anywhere between 1 month and 1 year, these would be items such as TCG mounts, Xmog and pets.

Of course you will be able to sell a few items before 1 month but these are generally outliers to the normal distribution of sales for long term investments.

What is classified as Xmog gear?
This is hard to judge since its not about what YOU think, its about what other people regard as good looking or cool. If you are using TSM I have edited a string of Xmog items (The base of it is @Silenthunder3) that generally sell well and are considered 'cool'. Some items are on this list because they are part of sets as well, set items even if they are horrible, they still might go with another part of the set that looks cool, you can find the Xmog list here.

So how do I get these sets of gear?
You can do this in two ways:
  • Farming
  • AH sniping
If you wish to farm Xmog gear I suggest looking up extremely expensive gear that is on your server and farming for those. You don't really want to be farming for a chest that sells for 400g. Jade set is probably a good place to start.

AH Sniping is what I do. Because I have my foot in the door of the gem market, TCG mounts and other areas I find that going out to farm is far too time consuming and therefore my GPH goes down. This is assuming you know how to use TSM - So once you have imported the list for Xmog items you want to set up two operations. First is your auctioning, you can edit this to whatever suits you best but I have as follows:
Auctioning
Post for 12 hrs
Minimum price - max(25% dbmarket, 70% wowuctionregion)
Normal price - max(120% dbmarket, 300g,130% wowuctionregionmarket)
Maximum price - max(200% dbmarket, 2950g, 200% wowuctionregionmarket)

Second is your buying operation, mine is as follows:
Shopping
Maximum auction price (per item) - 20% dbmarket

Heaps of items are coming up, should I buy all of these or just a few?
If you are just buying into the market and do not have much experience and/or gold I suggest getting a few items to start out with. Try aim for the lowest current price with the highest average sale price. Once you get comfortable and want to expand your assets you can go ahead and buy more.

**WARNING**
Be careful when buying Xmog gear as you can easily be tricked by some addons saying that the average price is, for example, 3k, and you go ahead and buy the item for 500g only to find out that there are 6 other items going for 500g or less. So not only should you check that you are going to be able to push the price up but also only buy items that have 1 - 2 items up on the AH.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to follow my twitter @DollarbillsWoW, will be doing a 25,000 gold giveaway on US-Barthilas (OCE server) once I hit 100 followers. (You can either start up on my server or buy some pets to transfer to your server and sell)

**This method of pricing and the base of the Xmog string is based around Silenthunder's Xmog Method**

Making it BIG on Gold Street with... Jewelcrafting!

Hello Goblins!

So you have come to me looking to hit the jackpot on Gold Street. Well one of MANY way's is Jewelcrafting. I will go in-depth with how to maximise profit with this wonderful profession!

What you will need -

  • 600 Jewelcrafting
  • Around 2000g OR Mining
  • Guild Recruitment Helper - Click here
  •  TSM - Click Here

So to start off you want to grab a mass supply of Ghost Iron Ore - GIO. You can do this multiple ways, you can bark in trade chat with Guild Recruitment Helper for cheaper GIO or you can buy off the AH normally a bit more expensive but easy to get and mass supply. Once you have spent your gold on GIO you then want to prospect ALL of this GIO into gems / serpents eye's.

Now you have uncommon gems, rare gems and serpents eye's.

Rare Gems
With the rare gems you want to cut these into the MOST profitable gems on your server, you can find out how much profit you will make per gem with TSM (Check out Phatlewts video guide for TSM help) and craft the best gems for highest profit.

When crafting I personally craft a max of 10 gems of each cut and post 2 at a time, the reason being for 2 at a time is because then I can repost 5 times before I have to cancel and collect my gems to repeat the steps for the AH undercutting business.

Uncommon Gems
With your uncommon gems if you have Alchemy you want to be prospecting all of these into rare gems. Only do this if you can get your golden lotus for around 30 - 34g per (Around 600g/stack). This is a much better way to get the gems you need rather than hoping you get enough of the gems you need from prospecting. But is slightly more expensive depending on your server.

If you do not have Alchemy or a pal to help you out to transmute your gems you should look into your perfect cuts market. Find which perfect cut sells well and at a decent price and cut the uncommon green gems in hope for procs. Vendor ALL of the green gems you get and post your blue prefect cuts on the AH

Serpent's Eye's
You should be keeping ALL of your serpent's eye's and using these to craft the MoP JC gear (neck and rings) On my server this gear varies from 200g - 600g (With outliers at 2.3k but rarely sell). Because these are slow sellers I restock on these very slowly but I craft ALL the time. I send any excess to my enchant and disenchant for Ethereal Shards which I then use to make enchants.

You can also post these on the AH for a decent amount (Nothing crazy) if you do not have an enchanter and do not wish to craft gear, you should be able to get a decent profit out of this compared to vendor price. But be careful not to post the price too high otherwise nobody will buy them!

Cashing in on World Events - The Lunar Festival

So, you want to make some gold do you? Well look no further for the famous WoW World Event is here and is a great way to cash in on some easy gold, The Lunar Festival!

How can I make gold from the Lunar Festival Dollarbills???

Well reader, look no further for I have the answers!

Runecloth and Bolts of Runecloth

There are two patterns that you can buy from Fariel Starsong that cost 5 Coins of Ancestry each. The materials needed to craft these both require Bolts of Runecloth. If you do not have a tailor go check your AH for any cheap Runecloth, I suggest under 15g/stack and buyout all of these stacks and post at a higher price, this is just a basic flip but you are more likely to be able to sell at a decent rate with this festival going on!

If you have a tailor I suggest doing the above, except do NOT post. Turn all of your Runecloth into Bolts of Runecloth and sell, on my server a stack goes for 200g. That is a 140g profit per stack!

Festival Lantern

This is the horde version of the Lunar Festival pet that is available for 50 Coins of Ancestry. This year I was lucky enough to have noticed that I kept ALL of my coins in my bank from previous years and was able to purchase 3 Festival Lanterns. These pets vary in price from the time of sale, at the moment I would assume that these pets are only going for 2k - 4k but can spike up to 20k in a few months time.

Elune Candles

But Dollarbills! These are unique, you can only have 1. Exactly, these Candles allow you to shoot fireworks at a target and people surprisingly DO buy these. You buy these candles for a few silver each and send to a bank alt or another alt that you are able to access. You buy 1, send 1 and repeat as many times you like. The trick is, that you can keep mail for 29 days and mail does not effect Unique Equip items. Therefore you can post all these items for a MUCH higher price as soon as the Lunar Festival ends!

Let the games begin... but first an introduction!

Welcome to The Wolf of Gold Street, a blog about gold making and your average day in the World of Warcraft.

A bit of background about my time in WoW. I started playing during WotLK as a rogue, just enjoying the game as someone who has no clue ( My favourite noob memory was putting points in all three talent trees) and really started understanding the game once Cataclysm released and got into the PVE scene. After swapping from Rogue I went into Shaman PVE healing and then found my talent on a Prot Paladin during 4.3 (Dragon Soul) and have stuck with a Prot Paladin during MoP.

I have created 2 - 3 guilds and formed raid teams with mates but never really worked out. I am currently a Guild Master for an 800+ member guild, Betrayed the Lore. While also controlling a few other guilds across a few other accounts.

I am starting this because, well, an in-game friend of mine is also a blogger (Tauna, A little bird gold me, check him out!) and I find that it is very entertaining to read his blogs and figured maybe I will have a shot at writing my own
I started my hunt for gold during Cata when I wanted to purchase a Vial of Sand's (40k at the time of purchase) like most players I didn't really look into how I would do it, rather I just herbed for a few hours a couple times a day and posted stacks on the AH. I earned my gold the long and hard way, now I farm my herbs and ores only moving from the AH to the mailbox, and clearly you are reading this blog to gain knowledge on how to increase your gold income and how to double your gold in a short period of time. I will cover addons, flipping, other sources and how to use them at their highest potential. I will be aiming to keep my blogs short but full of information and keeping at around a pace of 1 - 2 per week.
If you wish to contact me please feel free to comment below or you can tweet me @DollarbillsWoW for any specific questions I can try to help out :). I also am an active member on /r/wowgoldmaking and /r/wow. Good luck with your investments
